Mailing Things to Chile from the USA

So I have begun looking into options of shipping things from the USA to Chile.
So far it looks mildly expensive, but the biggest concern is time and fees incurred through customs.
USPS flat-rate Priority-mail boxes appear to be the best deal.

Here is what the offers:

  • First Class Mail (the cheap way, no real idea on how long this takes, 6 weeks?)
    • Letters (folded) and postcards are relatively cheap ($1.10 - $5 depending on weight)
    • Letters (unfolded) in semi-rigid envelope ($3.65)
  • Priority Mail Intl. (6-10 business days, much more than 1st class, a bit cheaper than Express or GXG)
    • Semi-rigid envelopes for letters, folded or flat ($24)
    • Large boxes, up to 20lbs (23-11/16" x 11-3/4" x 3" or 12" x 12" x 5-1/2"), ($78)
    • Medium box, up to 20lbs (13-5/8" x 11-7/8" x 3-3/8" or 11" x 8-1/2" x 5-1/2") ($60)
    • ***Small box, up to 4 lbs (8-5/8" x 5-3/8" x 1-5/8") ($24, this seems to be the best deal)
  • Express Mail Intl. (3-5 business days)
    • Semi-rigid envelopes for letters, folded or flat ($45)
    • Medium box, up to 20lbs (13-5/8" x 11-7/8" x 3-3/8" or 11" x 8-1/2" x 5-1/2") ($80)
  • GXG (1-3 days, very pricy...no go.)
Here is extra information regarding shipments.  Worth reading.
