Chilean Movies: Accurate depiction or dramatic fiction?

We have indulged in Chilean films.  We rationalize our binge with four thoughts:

• We are learning Spanish, and in particular, the Chilean dialect.
• We are gaining insight into the cultural behaviors of our soon-to-be hosts
• We need pop-culture clout to better connect with other Chileans
• We want to have some background in Chilean history and current/past politics
