Day 4: Spring Break in Baja California, México

Day 4: Bahia de Los Angeles.

  • After a constant flow of travel, we decided to spend a full day in the Bay of LA.  The night was punctuated by visits from coyotes which required detaining our dogs in the truck. Our neighbor (a retiree from the South Fork Eel River, CA area) had brought sit-on-top kayaks and generously loaned them to us.  We paddled along the coves and watched fish through crystal clear waters.  Eventually we got up the nerve to snorkel in the cool water.  This required a few minutes of acclimatization (huffing and puffing through snorkels), but it was well worth it.  Beautiful starfish, puffer fish and others were everywhere.  It was like Hawaii with the tropical color saturation turned down.  Sunburns and shells.  Snacks by the water. Sleeping in the shade.  Half sloth, half adventure.  Perfect.
